West County Branch Library

West CountyMajor Update!!!

The Erie County Public Library Foundation is thrilled to announce that we have received a major pledge from a local Fairview family for the West County Branch, bringing our total gifts received to $325,000!! This is matched by the Blasco Endowment Fund for a grand total of $650,000! We still have a way to go to reach our goal, but we are very excited by this new development! The new branch is looking better all the time! Check out the gallery  to see the construction photos.

The new branch will be 7,700 square feet in size making it the largest branch in the county system. It will also have a separate Children's Area and a lovely Community Room which will be available for library programming, as well as for different community organizations. It will have much more comfortable space for sitting and reading. Perhaps one of the nicest features of this branch is the proposed Children's Garden, which will be used as an outdoor area for the little ones, or for adults, as a relaxing retreat.

As many residents know, the Foundation held a groundbreaking in May 2008 at which Michael Batchelor of the Erie Community Foundation announced a $1.5 million challenge grant to the community. Sixty-five percent of the money is coming from the Blasco Fund at the Erie Community Foundation, but we hope the community will help support the campaign as well.
